Does your salon have an incredible culture? Before you answer, let’s explore exactly what that means.
This video is brought to you by Meevo 2 from Millennium Systems International, the salon and spa software customized for your world.
When I ask salon owners about their staff culture, they say,
“Oh, it’s great. Everybody loves each other, and it’s fantastic and everybody gets along. There’s never any drama.”
But they usually follow it up by saying something like,
“But, we’re not making any money.” Or, “I don’t feel like going to work every day.”
Even though they love their people, there’s usually some problem that still exists inside the culture.
Great culture doesn’t just mean everybody gets along and is relatively happy when they come to work. Great culture means a healthy organization from top to bottom.
So let me give you a quick analogy.
A culture where everybody just smiles at work is like having fake flowers on your mantle. They might look good, they might stay there for a while, but it’s not really growing and developing in a positive way. On the other hand, a healthy culture is like live flowers in a garden. They’re planted and have amazing roots, and they grow healthier over time. A good culture is allowed to change through the seasons. Sometimes, your culture can be amazing: everything is in bloom and it’s beautiful. Then the cold comes and flowers go dormant. Sometimes in your salon culture, you can have that winter season where everybody might not be perfectly happy, but they’re still developing.
It’s important to know that salon cultures go through peaks and valleys. Some of the healthiest salon cultures go through these highs and lows.
If you want to find out if you have a “fake flower culture” or if you’ve got a “healthy culture,” I’ve created an assessment for you to take that’s called “The Salon Culture Quiz.” You answer 10 simple questions, and it’ll help you to determine whether you’ve got a healthy, sustainable, growing culture in your salon, or if you’ve got that fake set of flowers which might look good, but it’s not doing you any favors.
So if you want to get access to that quiz, then CLICK HERE to download the PDF.
Answer those questions and find out now if you have a thriving salon culture, or if maybe it might need some love.
