On June 24th 2012 over seven hundred beauty professionals gathered from the country’s top salons, spas and medical spas to learn, network, and energize their businesses at Millennium’s largest client conference in the company’s history, The Millennium Experience.
This event focused on educating owners, managers, stylists and front desk professionals on Millennium and vital business practices. The conference began on a high note when Founder & CEO, John Harms, was introduced by playing the drums alongside violinists Adam DeGraff and Russell Fallstad of the Dueling Fiddlers. Paying tribute to the year the company was founded, 1987, the trio played to hit 80’s songs “Sweet Child O Mine,” “We Will Rock You,” and “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
If John’s introduction didn’t wake people up, the hair show following was a recipe for true inspiration. Ten teams of rising beauty professionals were chosen to display their looks with a live runway show under Paul Mitchell’s Global Artistic Director, Robert Cromeans. It was a true homage to remembering the start and to keep sight of the future. “An attendee went out of their way to tell me that they had to stop themselves more than once from crying during the hair show,” says Founder & CEO John Harms. “Watching those students up there giving their
all really resonated with the audience. It was not only inspirational, but a great reminder of where a lot of our clients came from.” The rest of the day was filled with amazing breakout classes from educators like John Harms, Robert Cromeans, Ted Gibson, Carol Phillips, Deborah Evans and many more. The day ended with an awesome 80’s party where everyone had fun and dressed in their best 80’s gear.
Day two of the conference didn’t lose steam as industry icon, Tabatha Coffey, lead the morning general session as she brought the audience to tears and laughter while delivering vital business tips. The common theme still clear as she spoke of her struggles and highlights of her past. Following Tabatha’s presentation lucky attendees participated in a powerful Q&A session with John Harms, Robert Cromeans and Tabatha Coffey.
Millennium still had more up their sleeves as they closed out day 2 with a look into the future. John Harms and Millennium Chief Technology Officer, Andrew Whiddett, brought a mind blowing presentation of Millennium EVO; a complete Millennium re-write that they’ve been working on for the past eighteen months. The 90 minute session was filled with large eyes of shock, some “ooohs” and “ahhs”, finally some clapping and ended with a standing ovation. Millennium EVO is under strict NDA because of patented features in the software that offer ground-breaking tools to motivate employees and never before seen technology to help clients navigate through the program. “We brought them something that they didn’t even know they wanted,” says Millennium CTO Andrew Whiddett. “It was scary at first to see the shocked looks in the large audience. It was obvious that we were changing the future, today.” Owner’s Social, an exclusive evening event for Owners only, was jam packed. Hundreds of owners gathered to network and exchange business tips. The social isn’t just like any other gathering of owners; by walking the room you could hear business owners speaking Millennium. It was the common language in the room that put everyone at the same starting point. They could easily share ideas on the growth indicators they monitor, reports, and marketing initiatives that impacted business.
Day 3 was a half day and featured all the popular Millennium classes for the attendees who missed out the first two days; plus each attendee left with a Millennium USB key full of action plans that will help them execute the strategies they learned as they return to their businesses. As the conference came to a close there was a general feeling of motivation, energy and the need to be more. On day one there were 700+ unique attendees at The Experience, but on day three there was a family of inspired, driven beauty professionals leaving refreshed and ready to implement new ideas into their businesses. There is now doubt each attendee walked away with something special; whether it be a new idea, a personal realization, a friend or just a new found love for what they do.
